What drives the price

Roughly in order of how much each one moves it.

Size of the area — the biggest single factor — every square foot is excavation, base and paver
What is under the ground — soft, wet or clay ground needs deeper excavation and more base; sandy shore lots drain well but need firm edge restraint
Collection and format — textured and stone-look Techo-Bloc finishes cost more than standard units; large slabs cost more to set
Pattern and cuts — curves, borders and patterns with many cuts add hours of saw work
Access — no room for a machine means digging and moving base by hand
Extras — steps, seat walls, fire features and lighting are priced as their own lines

Techo-Bloc vs Cambridge

We install both. Here is the honest difference.

Techo-Bloc is the premium end. Its collections lean toward textured, natural-stone looks and large-format slabs, and the paver itself generally costs more. Where it earns that is on a patio people see up close every day — the texture and color variation read like stone.

Cambridge is the workhorse. Durable, a wide range of shapes and colors, and very strong value on driveways, walkways and larger areas where the finish matters less than the square footage. A lot of our driveways are herringbone Cambridge for exactly that reason.

The part that does not change: the base. A premium paver over a thin base still sinks. The same excavation and compacted base goes under both — see what belongs under a patio.

How to compare Techo-Bloc quotes

Two quotes for the same Techo-Bloc collection can be far apart, and the paver is almost never the reason. Ask each installer the same four questions: how deep they excavate, how much base goes in and how it is compacted, what holds the edges, and what their own workmanship warranty covers. The cheaper quote is usually the thinner base.

Is Techo-Bloc more expensive than Cambridge?
Generally, yes, on the paver itself. Techo-Bloc positions itself as a premium line, and many of its collections carry textured, stone-look and large-format finishes that cost more to make. But the paver is usually the smaller share of an installed patio. Excavation, base, edge restraint and labor are the same work whichever brand goes on top, so the gap on the finished job is narrower than the gap on the pallet price.
What makes a Techo-Bloc patio cost more or less?
Five things, roughly in order: the size of the area, how much digging and base the ground needs, the collection and paver format you choose, the pattern and number of cuts, and access for equipment. Large-format slabs and patterns with many cuts add labor. A tight backyard with no machine access adds labor. Soft or wet ground adds base.
Are large-format Techo-Bloc slabs harder to install?
Yes. Big slabs show every small dip in the base, so the base has to be screeded flatter, and they are heavier to set and cut. That is real extra labor, and it is why a large-format patio usually costs more than the same area in a standard paver even before the material difference.
Does Techo-Bloc come with a warranty?
Techo-Bloc backs its units with its own manufacturer warranty — ask for the current terms in writing on any quote. We add a 3-year workmanship warranty on our construction on top of whatever the manufacturer covers. The manufacturer covers the paver; the installer is who covers the base, and the base is what fails.
Do you install both Techo-Bloc and Cambridge?
Yes. Most of our work across Ocean and Monmouth County is Cambridge or Techo-Bloc. We will show you both at the site visit and tell you honestly where the extra spend on Techo-Bloc shows and where it does not.
